Obama Victory in North Carolina Scarf
This is what I started working on last night while we watched Keith Olbermann, Chris Matthews & Co. reporting on the Indiana and North Carolina primary returns.
This is a scarf pattern, called a Garter Ridge Stitch, suggested in the book "Knitting for Dummies"--stupid title, good information. I love this yarn, but I had to try to manipulate the colour in PaintShop Pro to get it to look like it does IRL. It's a beautiful soft pale green with NO blue tones to it.

InsaneJournal + today and tomorrow
I haven't been able to post to my main blog, CountryMouse's Refuge, which is at InsaneJournal. This has to do with the move to new servers over the weekend, and some leftover stuff needing to be done.
Today: lazy day. Did a little knitting. I worked on my pink scarf that has a cable running down the middle. It's from a pattern in the book "Celebrity Scarves 2: Hollywood Knits for Breast Cancer Research".
Then my CFC counselor showed up, and we had a nice session. It's a comfort to have her to talk to.
After that Bunnicula and I watched last night's "Desperate Housewives". We have been watching "DHs" since the first season and don't intend to ever quit. Too much fun!
And then it was time for my little meal of soft foods. I went to my main AC:WW town of Candlefd (Candleford) whilst eating.
In a few minutes, B. and I will be watching Keith Olbermann's "Countdown".
Tomorrow Bunnicula will need to go get some bread and other things for me at the grocery; so while he's at the shopping center, he'll get me some yarn (heh--like I need more!). I want to start a rib-knit scarf. I don't know why--probably because my sister is making one. I always want to try to make what she's making. :-D In fact, I probably even want to be such a copy-cat errrr mouse as to use lavender yarn TOO!
I am going to TRY not to stress out about tomorrow's primaries. Que sera, sera. But Bunnicula and I will almost certainly watch MSNBC's coverage of the returns anyway.

Just a note about forthcoming entries
(cross-posted from my InsaneJournal, CountryMouse's Refuge)
I'm going to be doing a couple or so backdated entries for the 15th this evening [in my InsaneJournal]. But I don't have time now, plus IJ is not totally stable/back in all aspects.
I have an dental appointment in about an hour, then we'll all be going to the grocery store after that.
I'll post a running Twitter commentary from last night when Cat'r and I went to the Mike Doughty concert at Southgate House. :-)
Okay, laterz!

Anniversary presents, shopping, BOOKS!
(meant to be posted in my InsaneJournal last night around 11pm)
After my appointment, Cat'r arrived--good timing! :-)
He surprised me with flowers! What a sweetie he is! Our 3d handfasting anniversary was yesterday. He also gave me a gorgeous candlestick that we'll use in our new place. AND he's taking me to the Mike Doughty concert tomorrow night. :-)
After my little meal (I have to eat soft foods for now--oh well!) + going to Candlefd (my main AC:WW town), we all went to Fresh Market. Then we swung by home, Bunnicula brought the food up and put it away, then we all headed out to Steak 'n Shake. The guys had *their* supper while I crocheted. When we were about to leave, a lady came up to me to ask what I was working on. She gave me the names of a couple knitting patterns to look up online. It's always neat when you make instant friends via knitting and crocheting!
Then it was on to Target. We got more pillows (I will need to sleep sitting up the first night after the oral surgery--well, I will *want* to) + zippered pillow covers and pillow cases. Also got two small purses (I need one for tomorrow night, but I couldn't make up my mind which I wanted). :-P I got myself the newest Sheryl Crow CD, "Detours"; Brain Age 2 for the Nintendo DS; Patapon for the PSP; and the book, The Friday Night Knitting Club.
After we got home I ordered more books from amazon.com! I ordered two Stephanie Pearl-McPhee books: Stephanie Pearl-McPhee Casts Off: The Yarn Harlot's Guide to the Land of Knitting and Things I Learned From Knitting (Whether I Wanted To or Not). I also ordered: Crazy Aunt Purl's Drunk, Divorced, and Covered in Cat Hair: The True-Life Misadventures of a 30-Something Who Learned to Knit After He Split, Hooked: A Crocheter's Stash of Wit and Wisdom, and Cranford. THAT oughta keep me occupied! :-P

InsaneJournal is having serious problems
InsaneJournal's hosting company screwed up and canceled the databases. Squeaky has a copy of them from a month ago. Argh, why wasn't I backing up my entries frequently?!?
More as this unfolds.
In a minute I'm going to post an entry I *meant* to post to InsaneJournal last night.

Winter Storm - Night 1
This is the snow coming down at 8:35pm. This is snow, not rain, although it looks more like rain.

National Blog Out - Barack Obama
This is an event that was easy to sign up for. To blog about why I support Barack Obama to be our Democratic nominee and ultimately our President as of November of this year.
My husband and I have been listening to Barack Obama's book (in audiobook form) "The Audacity of Hope". We are both moved by how Senator Obama addresses the problems of how our nation got into the fix we are in at present and how we can get back to/forward to our true American values. He also addresses, in other forums, how we ALL can help our communities, our nation, to become great again. This is not about him--it's about US.
He is the leader we need who can take us forward into the future, to bring about the changes that will benefit all of us, not a few. He is strong, but he listens. If you have watched any of the debates he has been in, you have witnessed his cool unflappable nature. He is logical, but compassionate. He has concrete plans for helping this country, but he also expects us all to do our part too.
For four years I have clung to Rev. Jesse Jackson's admonition: "Keep hope alive!" because that's all we could do. It felt like a tiny spark in the darkness. Now Senator Obama has said, "WE are the hope we have been waiting for!" What a revelation! With him as our leader, we can accomplish so much! Let us move forward with a true leader we all can be proud of!

Tire tracks in snow
I don't feel like talking today, so here is a photo from yesterday afternoon. We are supposed to get snow and then freezing rain/sleet tonight and tomorrow. Then rain. Then snow. ::sigh::

Ice and snow
Close-up right beside our front door. Someone shoveled/scraped up the icy crust on the immediate walkway leading outside. Whatever snow was there became ice with what came down on top of it.

Test: corded home phone vs. cordless home phone
This post was made using our VTech cordless phone. The volume on this post is definitely more acceptable than the volume on the post (cancelled) made from the old corded phone we also have.

Groundhog Day
I tried twice to do a voice Utter, but the voice-synthesized reading of this can't possibly be worse than the way I sounded today. There is something really wrong with transmission and/or reception today. Maybe things work better on overcast days--who knows?
Anyway, today is a bright bright sunny day, blue sky with a few puffy white clouds, breezy, cool-ish (by our winter standards). So we are going to have six more weeks of winter. Punxsutawney Phil, the groundhog, says so. He saw his shadow this morning. I welcome his prediction, as I am still waiting for one good snowstorm so that it will feel like we've had some kind of actual winter here in southwest Ohio!
So have a Happy Groundhog Day, Happy Candlemas, Happy Imbolc!
